Creating Collaborative Stories in a time of COVID-19: Impact, Learning, Change.
Creating Collaborative Stories in COVID-19 is a project to collect stories from staff, patients and carers so we can understand about how health and social care can feel more connected and collaborative and to make it a better experience for people using services – capturing the learning from COVID-19 – creating the conditions for collaborative relationships in healthcare.

The Choral Connection:

The Choral Connection is a NHS Leadership Academy project which shows the positive impact between singing and health – improving patient wellbeing – improving staff wellbeing – connecting communities – creating the conditions for collaborative healthcare. There is growing research on the value of singing including for example positive impacts on health and wellbeing, team working, connection; resonating with collaborative leadership and key aspects of the NHS People Plan. The potential to capture and share the value of the choral contribution for cultivating collaborative leadership is embraced in this project in collaboration with the Rainbow Connection Choirs. This project leads to a creative resource, which seeks to optimise the value and contribution of the choral connection for patient and citizen engagement and leadership. Songs and stories are shared by choir members. We are learning about the positive contributions that choral singing can make to creating the conditions for cultivating collaborative leadership e.g. engagement, wellbeing, team-working, connection and belonging.

The Choral Connection began in conversation on a ferry - returning from the honour of singing with the Rainbow Connection Singers, at the Menin Gate Last Post Ceremony in Yypes, Belgium – November 2018. My curiosity about the choral connection was ignited while undertaking my doctoral study; an exploration influences on leadership for public engagement in healthcare - cultivating collaborative practices.
